Upcoming changes to the National Minimum Wage

The Government has announced that from October 2016, the rates will be:  

Type of Payment

From 1 October 2016

Workers aged 25 and over (minimum rate per hour)

£7.20

Workers aged 21 and over (minimum rate per hour)

£6.95

Workers aged 18-20 (minimum rate per hour)

£5.55

Workers aged under 16 and 17 (minimum rate per hour)

£4.00

Apprentices under 19 (or aged 19 and over in the first year of their apprenticeship)

£3.40

Accommodation offset amount (per day)

£6.00

The Government has announced that, from April 2017, the National Minimum Wage and the National Living Wage will both be changed annually, in April.
