Well what can we say about 2020…. When the New Year was toasted in by many, nobody could have imagined the major changes afoot with Coronavirus, a national lockdown, social restrictions and for some, loss of income and employment.

Christmas for most people is a time of fun, laughter and spending time with loved ones but with the effects of the pandemic, it has impacted so many and changed life as we know it.

For the last few years, Prestige Recruitment have held events internally to raise funds to buy toys to take to those in need. This year we have changed tack a little to try and give to more people.

For 2020, we are collecting donations for 3 charities across Hull:

The Preston Road Women’s Centre provide information, support and advice to women in Hull including domestic violence support, safe affordable housing and a nursery provision for 0-5 year olds.

Hull Homeless Outreach is run solely by volunteers who offer support to homeless people in Hull. Operating from St Mary The Virgin Church in Hull 2 nights per week, they provide meals, clothing and much needed social interaction to those trying to survive on our streets.

The RSPCA Centre is a well-known and established charity who rescue, rehabilitate and re home 100’s of the most vulnerable dogs, cats, rabbits and guinea pigs each year. We have chosen to support this charity in memory of our colleague Julie Cunningham, who we lost suddenly in December 2019. Julie loved all creatures, including all of us here, and we know she would be so happy that we are thinking about our furry friends on her behalf.

How you can help

We are asking our internal teams along with our wonderful workers and clients (old and new) to support us by giving a donation (of any size) in the form of:

• Toys and Books (all ages)
• Food (non-perishable) including tins, rice, pasta, biscuits, long-life treats such as chocolate
• Toiletries including deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrushes and sanitary products (no aerosols please)
• Unwanted coats, hats, scarfs, gloves, socks, blankets, hoodies, jeans and joggers (all sizes)
• Animal food (canned, biscuits, straw, seed)
