A recent survey by CV-Library has suggested that over half of workers in the UK don’t have job satisfaction and are unhappy in their current jobs, with the vast majority citing lack of career development opportunities as their main source of frustration.
More and more workers are now looking for increased satisfaction from their jobs, opting to continuously develop their skills rather than settling for their current skillset. An ambitious workforce naturally wants more opportunities and in turn increased wages. This provides employers with an interesting problem in order to retain their best staff.
1/3 of staff surveyed by CV library said that their employer did not invest in any training or development. This is not only detrimental to the quality of the business but it leaves workers, potentially becoming bored with there everyday routine. Of the respondents who said they were happy in their current jobs, 38% of them stated that this due to the fact they were constantly learning new skills.
It is clear to see that employees are now looking to improve be it through their employer or by themselves with 87% of people surveyed stating that they would be prepared to invest in their own training and development programmes to further their careers.
