There are several proposed developments in Hull and the surrounding area of the East Riding which will bring new opportunities for jobseekers. What are these developments and what can we expect from them? In this blog, we’ll take a look at Lagoon Hull, Glass House and Yorkshire Energy Park - what they are and how they could bring new job opportunities for you.
Titled the most ambitious plans Hull has seen since the Humber Bridge, Lagoon Hull is a £1.5bn plan for a 11km road to be built offshore to expand our port. The man made land is expected to bring almost 14,000 new jobs with it through the need for development during the building period. It will then bring job opportunities through the improved transport links it will provide, making it much easier to get to and from the city centre. This is the biggest proposal since the Humber Bridge and could change the business landscape in Hull bringing in thousands of job opportunities both in the form of new developments and indirectly by improving transport links.
The former police station by Queens Gardens is due to be renovated and turned into 94 apartments, with the addition of office and co-working spaces and much more. This should bring plenty of new job opportunities and increase the interest in business for the city centre. This new development will bring excellent business links and networking opportunities and help to drive the development of the city centre. This project will help make business connections stronger within the city centre and will bring indirect job opportunities.
This development located in the East Riding consists of a large scale energy production facility with strong connections between energy, sea, road, rail and air infrastructure. The site is expected to bring around 120 new jobs during its development and open up a potential for 2090 new jobs after development has been completed. This alongside a potential of 590 indirect jobs means the Yorkshire Energy Park would bring plenty of new opportunities for those in Hull and the surrounding area.
These developments are currently in the proposal and development phases so these job opportunities aren’t currently available. But what it does show is that Hull is going to continue being a leading city in business growth and development and job opportunities are going to continue to grow. Stay tuned to follow the development of these proposals and find a job using our online job search.
