Assistant Laboratory Technician
Our clients are a well-respected global brand with a 250+ year old heritage. It has operations in many countries and in diversified markets they are well known across the beverage and horticulture industries.
They are currently looking to recruit an Assistant Laboratory Technician for their operation in Hull. You will report to the Senior Lab Technician and be responsible for laboratory-based tasks, which include sampling, testing, measuring, recording and analysing results. They also provide all the required technical support to enable the laboratory to function effectively whilst adhering to correct procedures and health and safety guidelines.
Laboratory technicians carry out fundamental tests as part of a small team. These tests assist in the advancement and development, quality, analysis and investigation.
Typical work activities:
The main function of the Assistant laboratory technician is to perform the specific tests that will allow further quality and design checks.
Tasks typically involve: Using GC and HPLC analysis
*performing laboratory tests in order to produce reliable and precise data to support the production
*carrying out routine tasks accurately and following strict methodologies to carry out analyses;
*preparing samples for routine testing;
*operating standard laboratory equipment, for example various measuring equipment, ovens, weighing scales etc.;
*recording and sometimes interpreting results to present to senior colleagues;
*using computers for the preparation of Word and XL documents for reporting purposes;
*keeping up to date with developments, ensuring samples are logged into the system;
*conducting 'housekeeping' exercises to ensure samples are logically stored or disposed of; following and ensuring strict safety procedures and safety checks.
Hands on Experience in laboratories preferably in the food industry would be desirable but training will be given for the right candidate. You will need to be methodical in your approach to this role and have the ability to analysis and interoperate data.
This is a full time position you will be required to work Monday to Friday 8am to 4.30pm or 6am to 2.30pm alternating.
